[ #saveukraine ] DaPic in Lviv
Every day has been bringing its share of bad news from Ukraine over the last week and it looks like the worst is still to come unfortunately. Support is getting organised outside Ukraine and I'm still in Slovakia building networks of people who are willing and capable to help and trying to stay in touch with and assist all the Ukrainians I know while my dear friend, DaPic (David Pichler), made his way inside Ukraine. He arrived in Lviv yesterday to provide an inside view.
Yesterday, I got abominable news about one of my buddies who died fighting in Ukraine. I feel utterly disgusted but also very motivated. My goal in Slovakia, is to provide all information I can relay given the fact I speak many languages and I am trying to connect people who can actively support the migrants running away from their homes. So far, we were able to provide shelter to a few groups of traveling moms with kids and I am in touch with a Luxembourg association of Ukrainians offering backup from further West.
War propaganda is raging on both sides and it's still very difficult to identify correct from wrong info. David's goal is to provide a neutral and independent inside view by documenting stories unfolding on the Ukraine soil. From Lviv, a region I know relatively well due to multiple stays there on my way to Kyiv in the past, David's plan is to travel South to Odessa where the situation is pretty tense and coverage is still relatively scarce.
No plan has been made yet about what to do with this content but we're already thinking about it. A website, a book, a photo exhibition ... we'll figure it out in time and let you know.
In the meanwhile, if you are in Slovakia and can help, please get in touch with me. We need housing, vans and drivers above all since the border regions are packed and it's hard to help everybody in these messy conditions.
If you are in Luxembourg and want to help, LUkraine have created dedicated online groups for a more efficient information and coordination.
- to volunteer, fill out this form
- if you can host people in Luxembourg
- for any other help
- support Ukraine financially
- for all the information about Ukrainian community in Luxembourg, organised events and other information, visit this link or visit the LUkraine website
Let's spread love!
