RedBet Open Main Event final report

12/12/2014

Sorry for skipping the RedBet Main Event report. You sure have guessed that I am not playing the final table today ;) As a matter of fact, I've been on a Prague club raid since I busted and slept the rest of the time to get rid of the frustration due to a surreal run in this event.
Actually, I busted in the late stages of Day 1B.

Despite the fact that I was feeling pumped after shipping the satellite and that I was really motivated to play solid Poker, the RedBet Open was not kind to me.

In the early stages of the tourney, I raise KK on the button. No action. The next hand I play is on the button with KhTh calling an UTG open and taking the BB with us to the 9JQ flop. Triple check on the flop. No flush draw. The T on the turn is almost bad news and the K on the river really spoils the party. My opponents are holding AK and AQ and I manage to fold on the river.

Also got AA in middle position. No action again... :/

I flopped a set of 4s on 4c9hKd and my two opponents fold on the 5c turn. Again, no value.

My JJ raised UTG encounters a 863 flop and my opponent abandons the micro pot on the K turn.

I finally manage to get some money in the middle with another JJ only to get raped by 62off. I open JJ in late position and get 3 calls (BTN, SB & BB). I get rid of two players on the 632 flop and end up paying a 3.2k value bet on the river with a board showing 632 4 2. Down to 14k (starting stack = 30k).

I have 15k (50bb) at the first break of the day after 3 hours of play and it proves difficult to build my stack up again. Many pots are played 4 or even 5-way so I decide to keep it cool and wait a bit for bigger blinds to put my opponents to the test in bigger pots with shallower stacks.

I find AK in early position and the BB comes along for a 468 flop and check-bet-call. The A on the turn looks kinda good (check-bet-call again) and the J river sees an open for 1/3 of the pot. That, for sure, doesn't look good. I think of it for a while and decide to make the call... of course he has A4.
As my stack dwindles down below 15bb, I get QQ: no action. This is getting ridiculous. So many premiums that don't pay off...

Close to 88bb, I manage to get rid of 88 in the BB after a raise UTG, a re-raise behind, an insta-push by another short stack and a reshove on the button. The short stack also has 88 and the button shows QQ. Straight for 88 !! LOL

I come back from the second break with 6bb and I push AJ on the button against an early position opener. Of course it's called. He has TT and win the flip only to bust the very next hand with AJ against the same guy who has AQ on a KQ9 J 6 board.

Drinks please! Loads of drinks during the following two nights in Prague clubs of all sorts and style...

Thanks for to the stakers for their support. I am preparing a message for all of today. A third of you investment is locked and I will send it back to you these days. Let's run better next time...
To make the bad run complete, our flight got cancelled on monday due to strikes in Belgium and we are now looking for solutions to get back home in time for PokerBelgique's KILLER tournament kicking off on Wednesday as all other flights are obviously sold out on sunday and tuesday.

Extra costs ahead :(

2015 will be the year of the good run I guess...
