The-Rounder.net has been going through a few evolutions since the pandemic. One of them is that the website and the community around it are growing and the whole thing is not managed as a one-monkey show anymore. The team is supposed to reach a count of 5-6 people by early 2025. Visit the CONTACT & INFO section for details about our activities. Portugal-based Alexandre Rotenberg has never been very far from the happenings around The-Rounder.net over the last years, so he was a natural addition to the core of the project over time. We have just used some of his South Africa shots in an article about the Cape Town Million 2024 featuring the Hendonmob Championship in collaboration with Sunbet Poker Tour and there is a lot more coming. Another addition to the team has organically been growing as a trusted community member from Las Vegas since 2023. Michelle Richey offers assistance to traveling players looking for a temporary or permanent place to stay in Las Vegas and will add content to website by sharing experiences and helping with the POKER TRIPS section. Welcome, Michelle! I’m Michelle Richey, though most folks just call me Sassy - because I like to add a little extra flair to everything I do! I’m thrilled to jump into this community and share my thoughts with all of you. Huge thanks to Damiano Nigro for bringing me into the fold! I’ve been shuffling chips since 2005 and making moves in the Las Vegas real estate game for the past decade. You can expect a mix of poker tales, insider tips, and a little Las Vegas magic in my posts! Now, let me tell you a little story about how I “found” poker (spoiler: it wasn’t pretty at first, but it was unforgettable). Back in 2005, I was working for a company that hosted these annual conferences in random, beautiful places. This particular year, we found ourselves in Portland, Maine - gorgeous place, by the way. I was all about lobster rolls and coastal vibes until one of the vendors decided to throw a poker tournament. Now, let me set the stage: I had never played poker before. We were more of a Monopoly and Scrabble family growing up, so the only thing I knew about cards was how to win at Uno (which, let’s be honest, doesn’t quite translate to poker). But I figured, what the heck? I sat down at the table, turned to the guy next to me, and whispered, “So, how do you play this game?” He gave me the world’s fastest poker tutorial, and well… you can guess how that turned out. I lost every chip I had in record time, but I was hooked. I mean, seriously hooked! I remember thinking, “This is the adrenaline rush I’ve been looking for!” Fast forward to my return home, and I immediately bought a poker book and started playing 3/6 limit at Talking Stick Resort in Arizona where I lived at the time. But here’s where it gets real fun - I decided to take my new skills to the big leagues and headed to Las Vegas. For some reason, I chose the Excalibur (don’t ask me why - I still have no clue!). I stayed there for a week, played limit cash games from sunrise to sunset, and basically never left the casino. It was poker, sleep, repeat. Now, I wasn’t exactly crushing it back then - let’s just say the casino wasn’t in danger of going broke because of me. I knew I needed to level up, so in 2006, I came back to Las Vegas for the WPT Boot Camp on tournament poker. And let me tell you, that’s where everything clicked. After that, I headed back home and, boom, I made two final tables in tournaments at Casino Arizona. Needless to say, I was all in at that point!
Since then, I’ve been living the tournament poker and REALTOR® life, and I can’t wait to share more stories and insights with all of you. I would love to hear how you “found” poker. Please share in the comments! Let’s make some moves and win some hands, shall we?
