About this site
I spend a lot of time travelling from Poker event to Poker event. View a selection of Poker pictures and follow my tournament coverages on the PHOTOS & COVERAGES page.
Also, scroll through a listing of articles dedicated to upcoming and past Poker tournaments in the NEWS BLOG section. You will also find a link to the former blog section (before summer 2017). These two sections have been merged now with tournament agenda updates and blogging coming up on the same page.
Finally, you can find a list of partner events in the POKER TRIPS section. I will be happy to assist you to join on one of my journeys.
who's the rounder?
Hello! I'm Damian. I was born in Luxembourg and I travel around from Poker event to Poker event in order to play card games or to report about them mainly by shooting photos. I shoot pictures everywhere I travel to and this blog simply serves the purpose of sharing information about Poker events I am attending or planing to attend.
With a scientific and cultural educational background and after a music career as a touring drummer & DJ then producer, publisher and manager from the mid 90s to the early 2000s, I ended up taking part to roughly 600 shows in 30 countries. If we would have had hashtags back then, #onstageeverywhere would have been one our favourite ones :p
I then transitioned to event management, cultural management & consulting, environmental and political activism through followed by more corporate private businesses like running a night club or owning a communication agency ... always keeping a camera somewhere close ... In 2007, I stumbled across Poker, somehow got good enough at it to make money and keep travelling almost without working. Then lady variance got introduced to me [dirty bitch!] :p I had a very wild and passionate relationship with her, especially in 2010 and 2011. I lost at Poker (playing mostly tournaments) and lost my Luxembourg home in a fire. The neighbour who was responsible for the fire that destroyed two whole stories of our building (4 apartments in the heart of Luxembourg City) had no insurance and no money. Endless fights involving lawyers and insurance companies followed leaving me basically homeless in the end because nobody would pay for the damage done. This tough situation resulted also in the loss of the last active company I was running back then in late 2010.

Having nothing to lose, I decided to invest the money I had in card coaching and took the decision to move in a RV full time to travel Europe and try making a living from Poker (NLH cash games this time) which kinda worked out and, luckily, I was not running bad in every other aspect of my life. In grand star alignment fashion, this is also the time when Poker companies and casinos started to order photo reports although I had never really advertised this service. Everywhere I was travelling to and after I had busted my tournaments, I shot photos when the tournament director would allow me to do so. Those photos were just for me and I would hand them over to the promoters too. As a matter of fact, it turned out some people were ready to pay for a passionate photographer's eye in order to promote their events and in 2012 THE-ROUNDERdotnet was born. The bad run came back though as a pyro set my mobile home on fire in Brussels in September 2013. There again, no insurance would cover the damage as the old vehicle's insurance covered fires ... but not vandalism.
Over the years, photography allowed me to have a small but steady revenue besides my Poker monkey swinging and I gathered enough knowledge and experience to start working with some of the worldwide leading Poker companies and casinos as a freelance photographer, blogger, live commentator, TV table director, camera operator, consultant ... you name it ... travelling around in the wake of numerous international Poker tours. Spending time with the best in the game, I discovered PLO and gradually moved to Pot Limit Omaha cash games as the NLH tables were becoming tougher and tougher.
A bunch of people helped me through my roughest times and so I am trying to give some back by helping people where I can by giving away small portions of my modest winnings during Poker charity challenges considering that the world will only be as good as we are ourselves.
I am fluent in five languages ENG, FR, DE & LU, my ITA is very good & I have basic knowledge in NL, SP, PT. Get in touch if you think we can work on something together.
I am still homeless today (last edit in January 2020) with a legal base in Luxembourg where I go back every few weeks to take care of office stuff and other photo, music and film projects I work on besides visiting family and old friends.
This page is designed responsively and therefore should display correctly on all sorts of devices but still works best on a good old computer :)
The main communication channel used to spread additional Poker information and pictures is my Facebook page. Stay tuned and thanks for dropping by.
See you on the road ! ;)
