[ The Festival ] From Nottingham to Malta

Competing at anything won't harm true companionship.

I have been in touch with Martin von Zweigbergk aka "Franke" for years and we regularly exchange about poker topics, but our only physical meeting was in Berlin during the WSOP Europe stop. Almost 10 years have passed since then and we have chosen Nottingham for a reunion. I had missed the Autumn 2022 stop of the festival in Bratislava as it coincided with my trip to Colombia, but we agreed that a reunion at Dusk Till Dawn should be a sure thing.

My first visit at the Dusk Till Dawn Club has been a good experience during THE FESTIVAL. One of the only unpleasant things about the Poker room is its location in Nottingham. The city as such is a very nice place but no big international airport connects it to Europe. The Birmingham or East Midlands airport are not too far away but don't offer many international travel options.

THE FESTIVAL is an action-packed event of competitions of all sorts. Poker in many of its variants (boooring), Black Jack, Roulette ... but also activities like Bowling, Sports Betting or ... Axe Throwing. Because, why not!?

This is something we have been working on for years with PokerFirma.com and the feeling of finally beginning to release it to the public is great.

Two new tools are being launched this month:

- the first is an extensive live Poker tournament calendar under pokerturniere.live.

- this huge database comes in a package with another branch of our web activities under casinocityguide.eu aiming to provide traveling Poker players with info, impressions and tips about things to do and places to visit around their Poker destination.

I am a big fan of BLACK. Not only for black and white photography but I have also always liked to darken my colour photos a lot. Probably the expression of the dark side of my soul :-)

I have been looking into a bunch of colouring techniques over the last months. This posts features examples of recent photos published from Romania to illustrate what I am talking about.

I am aware that I will not win any award with them since this approach goes against the grain for most photographers but I feel like it makes Poker photography a bit less hopelessly boring.

Thoughts? Feedback?

Live Poker rooms come in more or less organised ways and fashions. Some are very well run. Some are a complete mess. Mostly because of the human factor. One might like or dislike online Poker for the lack of social interactions but one of the biggest advantages of digital Poker games, is the smooth way promoters are able to run events with important numbers of players.

The massive 'Palace of the Parliament' in Bucharest, also known as the 'Republic's House' or 'People's House', is home to the Romanian Parliament of Romania. The mega building was ordered by Nicolae Ceausescu, designed and supervised by chief architect Anca Petrescu together with a team of roughly 700 architects who were kept busy over a period of 13 years (1984–1997) to complete it in Socialist Realist and Modernist Neoclassical architectural styles.

[ #allin4ukraine ] Ukraine is (still) calling

The new year started with a bang in Ukraine - literally - unfortunately making our initiatives still very much necessary. UKRAINE IS CALLING is a worldwide fundraising campaign launched by Luxembourg-based nonprofit organisation LUkraine together with various partners.

Our goal is straight-forward: save human lives and help those who are doing so. Roughly 2500 rescue vehicles have been destroyed in Ukraine since the Russian invasion began and counts keep rising. This makes emergency responses to repeated and ongoing crisis situations very complicated.

We are raising 10 million Eur to buy 112 rescue vehicles for Ukraine.

After another stop in Bratislava last autumn, two recent festivals in Tallinn, The Festival are heading to the United Kingdom.

The first Festival in the U.K. will take place at the Dusk Till Dawn Poker Club in Nottingham from 13th – 19th February.

[ Austria ] Another Mountain Poker Trip is coming up

After a failed attempt to visit one of the Casino Austria Poker Tour (CAPT) stops in Baden near Vienna last November, I'm back at it with a plan to combine some Poker with snowboarding.

I fired up the snowboarding season in early January together with two Poker friends form Croatia and we made our way to the Slovak High Tatras.

... and now I'm hooked again after a few years of skipping what is probably the sport I'm best at and I want more.

Dusk Till Dawn opened in 2007 and has been one of the European Poker hotspots ever since. From cheap entires to crazy expensive games, the Poker room is home to both, prestigious tournament series and daily cash games.

The Festival Series and Dusk Till Down matched hard on the dating app of Poker promoters and the next stop will be Nottingham for the fun casino game festival.

The Vamos Poker Tour is one of the latest additions to the jungle of European Poker circuits after a starting event in Bratislava during September 2022. Now, 2023 is coming up fast and the promoters have been busy since this autumn. The result is the next VPT leg announced in Bucharest, Romania in February.
