Twitter is much less a thing over here in Europe than it is in the U.S. for instance but I still use the network specifically to follow Poker and Blockchain updates.
In Spain, however, Twitter is one of THE networks the Poker community uses to spread news. The CNP Gran Final is on since today and I made my way to Torrelodones for the coming 10 days.
Being an accredited WSOP photo reporter is already pretty cool as such but being accredited the year of the last World Series of Poker at The Rio was even more special.
I got busted in Spain! I did not blow away my roll on high stakes Poker tables. Nor did I get robbed in a dodgy underground card club. I got caught flying my drone. 🙈
I planned to stay 3 weeks in Las Vegas in November and I ended up staying almost two months until Christmas facing many plan cancellations again in Europe due to that virus thingy.
The CNP 2021 Gran Final Madrid is coming up at the end of this month and their 2022 Poker tour in Spain is already looking great.
'Third party country', 'high risk' and 'very high risk' is the classification of countries by the Spanish central government.
If you follow this blog regularly, you know I have been spending the November and December months of 2021 in Las Vegas shooting photography and creating content for PokerFirma when I was not hiking in a desert or playing cards myself :)
With the new COVID-19 situation, the Spanish government has decided to extend the entry ban on non-essential trips imposed on the majority of third countries residents until late January.
This week, the CNP Madrid Gran Final partner, Hotel Pax, sold out but the organisation snap-found a deal with another place nearby.
I am planning to enter Spain soon in the middle of the latest Covid wave that visits Europe for the holiday. Entering Spain as such does not seem too tricky for now depending on where you are coming from.
I must admit, I am pretty speechless about what is happening again in Europe in terms of complications when it comes to travel restrictions, curfews and lockdowns. After spending the last 2 months in the U.S. , I had almost forgotten what the European Covid circus was about. One spot on the old continent seems to be ok though: the weather is nice, restrictions don't seem to be too bad and Poker promoters are still holding on their plans for now. How about spending the winter weeks in Spain?
I present to you, the place where I spend most of my time in Las Vegas. I've not taken a gondola ride yet but I've taken a few of my opponents on a ride to Value City already on The Venetian cash game tables. Looks like I'll spend another month in Vegas so I might as well try to ship one of their MTTs.
R.I.P. BPC 2021 and European live Poker scene - see you next year! Check out the DeepStack Extravaganza schedule until early January below and go visit my PHOTOS & COVERAGES section for all my Vegas & WSOP photos for PokerFirma since I arrived in early November. It looks more and more like the live Poker scene is coming back to life these weeks and months. Honestly, I still don't know what to do with my Poker photography career since work in the industry is still kinda scarce but, at least, I am getting enough opportunities to play these days.
