The Mare*GO is on its way back to where it came from and off to new solidarity missions. Thanks to everybody linked to the project!

The 4th deployment of 2024 in June was a tough one. Emotionally, physically ... but also mechanically and technically speaking.
Summer is a very busy time in the Mediterranean with many migrants to take advantage of better weather to cross to Europe. More crossing attempts inevitably results in more distress situations with more lives being at risk every day. Mare*GO had been maintained very well and the crews carefully prepared but the 120-year old yellow lady shows signs of fatigue and stress that render some of our rescue missions in the open sea difficult and potentially dangerous.
Our Mare*GO is still patrolling the Mediterranean Sea regularly. New crews are constantly trained and our old yellow lady of the seas always needs a lot of attention and maintenance. The project has come a long way since the Mare*GO was taken over by Zusammenland in early 2023.
YOU CAN HELP

We love to move around and it breaks our heart to see when other people cannot do so freely and safely.
New paint, new crane, same mission. Our Mare*GO is back at sea and on the way to the heart of the Mediterranean.
Winter is a great time to spend time in the shipyards in order to take care of our big yellow baby. With that said, the drama continues 24/7 in the Mediterranean Sea so our crews' goal is to get back at it quickly. Thanks to our donors and supporters, the Mare*GO could get a few upgrades over the last weeks:
- a new crane for heavy duty loading and unloading operations - paint jobs - essential maintenance & repairs
The Mare*GO is undergoing multiple winter maintenance after the recent publication of the 2023 deployment report.

Thank you, everyobdy!LUkraine recently published their collective major achievements in 2023 and big thank yous to all donors, partners, and volunteers for the support.
Merry Christmas and Feliz Navidad from the Caridad Hebron community in Las Vegas.
Caridad calls it 'The Refuge in the Desert' - HEBRON is a low-income housing complex for war veterans, people experiencing transitional or long-term homelessness, and seniors. Some of the roughly two dozen volunteers have been preparing and cooking since 4am to be ready for the 130 guests' Christmas eve meal in the sun.
I've been visiting Las Vegas since 2016. I stayed one month the first time I came. It was awesome :-D I obviously came to play and shoot poker. I did relatively well over the years. I won some money playing overall and I established myself as some sort of a relevant poker reporter in the poker capital of the world. Over time though, I've learned that Las Vegas is indeed that figurative mirage in the desert but the Strip is a mirage within the mirage. Those who want to get to know what the city really has to offer, need to get off that overrated tiny part of Las Vegas Boulevard and meet the real people of Las Vegas: its workers, its inhabitants, its rejects, and also its caretakers.
Another trip to Las Vegas is coming up for all poker lovers with a big heart before the end of the year. The World Poker Tour is ending 2023 with a bang at the Wynn/Encore, one of the most elite casino complexes on the Strip. The event is part of a collaboration with the One Drop Foundation and will feature a 1-million-dollar buy-in event besides the 40-million-prize pool put in place for the 10k main event.

It's been roughly one year since Zusammenland took over the Mare*GO for civil sea rescue operations in the Mediterranean Sea and what a year it's been!
At this stage, we would like to thank everybody who got involved in one way or the other. Great things have been accomplished. Even greater things are yet to be taken care of and our old yellow sea lady needs constant care and upgrades to keep up with the tough missions we assign it to. The last deployment of the year is starting these days.
The war in Ukraine is far from being over, so the LUkraine efforts continue relentlessly with an international solidarity project that has ballooned to a pretty massive enterprise incorporating hundreds of volunteers or supporters gathering and distributing hundreds of thousands of Euro in emergency support funds and medical equipment.
What is more, our beloved Mare*GO is still rocking the Mediterranean Sea saving lives every week off the Lybian coast. You can support us by donating money, attending info events, spreading the word or by buying our merchandising.
One Drop, the famous foundation working on providing clean water to everyone is present at the Wynn Las Vegas this week with the World Poker Tour and I'm grateful for having credentials to shoot the entire event.
I'll embed highlights with PokerFirma.com updates and social media posts below over the week for those who want to keep up with things and more details about other #pokersolidarity actions I support with this blog are available HERE.
SHIP IT! We went all-in on a boat.
2023 began like this: Not sure yet how we're going to handle all the paperwork and something tells me that the accountant is not a fan of the project... :-D
... but we have a boat for rescue operations at sea in the Mediterranean. This thread will be updated as the project goes. Welcome aboard the Mare*GO!
This is a follow up on the latest solidarity actions in and around Ukraine. The huge 'Ukraine is Calling' ambulance and firetruck campaign is still on. Donations are still more than welcome and necessary. DONATE TO LUKRAINE HERE.
It has been over a year since the war started and since we first decided to travel to Ukraine and try to assist the weakest among the civilian population. Our early chaotic independent evacuation missions and first-aid delivery efforts have turned into a massive collective endeavour.
It bends our mind when we look back at what has been achieved and it breaks our heart to realise how much will is still needed. Yet, this is a shout out to every body who has helped and still does. This reminds me of my personal favourite quote of Mahatma Gandhi: 'First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.'
This week, another 6 rescue vehicles were sent to Ukraine bringing the total count to 38 vehicles out of the planned 112 for our international UKRAINE IS CALLING fundraising campaign.
LUkraine are still collecting goods via the huge warehouse in Luxembourg and our international fund raising campaign is still on. Find out about all the details on ukraineiscalling.com .
The new year started with a bang in Ukraine - literally - unfortunately making our initiatives still very much necessary. UKRAINE IS CALLING is a worldwide fundraising campaign launched by Luxembourg-based nonprofit organisation LUkraine together with various partners.
Our goal is straight-forward: save human lives and help those who are doing so. Roughly 2500 rescue vehicles have been destroyed in Ukraine since the Russian invasion began and counts keep rising. This makes emergency responses to repeated and ongoing crisis situations very complicated. We are raising 10 million Eur to buy 112 rescue vehicles for Ukraine.
