Over the summer months, I've been working on (re)connecting with partners to give my blog and traveling plans new impulses. One of the cool features for the colder season, is the (re)launch of the BEAT THE RAKE promo in the POKER TRIPS section.
Occasionally, I'll land a deal with event promoters for my photo input and whenever it's possible, I'll share the value with fellow traveling Poker players.
Vigo (pronounced ‘BEEGO’ [ˈbiɣo] ), geographically speaking, is located in the northwestern part of the Iberian Peninsula. Politically, it’s a bit more complex. It is located in the autonomous community of Galicia in the province of the city of Pontevedra. Some say it’s in Spain :-) Roughly 300000 people were living here in 2019 making it the most populated city in Galicia although the name is originally derived from the Latin word ‘vicus’ for ‘small village’. It is also the economic hot spot of the region and, as a reference point, hosts the EFCA, the European Union Fisheries Control Agency, headquarters.
The Spanish Poker Festival still have a bunch of events up their sleeve for this year, so get your agenda ready and get set for one or the other mtt in Spain or Rozvadov during the end of 2022 ...
Most of my personal upcoming stops are listed in the POKER TRIPS section and I'll try to throw in another dead bullet or two to support the Spanish Poker community :-p After the first stop of this mainly Belgian&French Poker travel group in Bratislava this summer, they are back on the road and coming back to Slovakia in November.
Season 10 of the CNP season is coming to an end after the last Gran Final in January 2022. Back then, we were still all wearing life saving masks on the inside in Spain but it seems we are all safe now :-)
With less than two weeks to go before the start of the CNP Bogota leg, the local preparations have begun.
This first stop in Bogota is only the tip of the iceberg. As a matter of fact, the CNP team have announced plans put together a Latin American live Poker tour: the Circuito Latino de Poker. November will be bringing another wave of Belgians and French players to Slovakia's capital. The promoter will be Poker Belgique featuring the second edition of its very affordable France/Belgique Masters after a first decent leg early this summer. Get in touch for your bookings if you care to join.
All info about Banco Casino in Bratislava HERE. Check the POKER TRIPS section for promos. No life changing heaps of money to overload our luggage but Vigo will be remembered as a pleasant Poker stop all in all. An extensive review is in the making for Casino City Guide and you can already enjoy a large selection of images compiled with the help of Alexandre Rotenberg in the photo archive of this site.
No, it's not a day of grief, except maybe for my SPF Main Event that I busted in the next to last level of Day 1B last night. I just like black and white photography - even when it's sunny and colourful around me :-) Below is a black and white series of the heart of charming Vigo in Spain's Galicia.
All my Vigo photos together with Alexandre Rotenberg's selection are online in this trip's archive.
Alexandre Rotenberg and me are compiling some Vigo photo impressions for you these days. We've added some new pics in the album below!
It's always exciting to be in a place for the first time. I like this feeling of genuine discovery and exploration I get when I travel, especially to new places. It brings me back to a state of mind of innocence and vulnerability I can almost only remember from childhood.
We're in the process of preparing quite a bit of new Poker content with PokerFirma ... but we're not intending to talk too much about the game itself :-) Because there's a life beside Poker. We swear! We've seen it!! :-p
PokerFirma have ordered a series of Portugal photos of mine and I have compiled this short article about the state of things when it comes to playing live Poker in one of my favourite places in Europe.
An English version of my text is available below and you can visit the original article in German to view all the awesome photo selection HERE. Over the coming weeks, Bratislava will be one of Europe's hottest Poker spots ! We've summed up the action in THIS POKERFIRMA ARTICLE . Don't worry, your German skills don't need to be that good to understand what we're talking about :-) Poker. A lot of Poker!
Also, check out the POKER TRIPS section for more #allineverywhere suggestions . Jupiter reaches opposition roughly every 13 months. These last years, I’ve loved observing it throughout the summer until it reaches its brightest point in the sky. It’s the largest planet of the solar system and it will make its closest approach to Earth since 1963 on the 26th September 2022. 2129 is the next time it will so close and thus so bright in Earth's sky. Eyes up if you're in the Northern Hemisphere! The show starts daily after the sun sets.
PokerStars are coming back to their Belgium home in Namur for a Road to PSPC event in late November and early December. Save the dates if you care. I might be around too.
How about playing Poker in grand style at Casino Baden less than one hour from Vienna? The Casinos Austria Poker Tour [CAPT] will stop in Baden in a few weeks and I'm thinking of getting some fresh mountain air. The tournaments buy-ins range between €60 and €2.2k .
Check out the full schedule HERE. One of the very nice things about Portugal, is that, despite its modern infrastructure and great international connections, it does not take more than a 60-minute drive to disappear into the wild.
Watching waves and sunsets while eating local pastries. Easy life! The Wyndham Hotel Bogota is about to host the first CNP event in Colombia launching the Circuito Latino de Poker project and offering great opportunities to travel and play cards on the other side of the planet.
As mister #allineverywhere , I like this a lot :-) Find out about plenty of details on this short and rather visual post. Info and booking is available via the POKER TRIPS section here and you can still take advantage of the promotion to play the Main Event rake-free with THE-ROUNDER. Colombia for sure is bit off my standard travel circuit so I made a bit of research in order to prepare my trip. In this post, you'll find useful links and info about how to embark with us for the upcoming CNP Bogota.
Only about a month separates us from the start of the first CNP Festival in Colombia.
Everything seems ready to welcome delegations from all over the world with this expansion of the 10th season of the (actually) Spanish Poker Tour. The support of the community will be crucial to turn this somewhat crazy idea of Jaime Sanchez's team into a success story. The dates for the next Banco Casino Masters have been announced!
A great addition to my October planning knot :-) Banco Casino info can be found HERE and I'll add details and promos in this blog and in the POKER TRIPS section soon.
Lately, I've survived a spooooky gloooobal pandemic, I lost close to all my clients in the wake of this stupid thingy, I've visited armed conflict zones because some guys with really a lot of power were being silly, I've spent a total of four months in Vegas over the last year (almost) without going on monkey tilt, I've been going through my roughest downer e-ver (by far!) in terms of Poker swings and I've not been crushed by the bear (market) ... so far. If what does not kill you, makes you stronger, I should be pretty close to almighty by now :-) and since the upswing is coming back soon anyway, it's time to make new ambitious projects.
The Dublin Poker Festival has announced its 2023 dates! Full schedule updates will follow soon...
One of the coolest festivals around on the Poker circuit these days is THE FESTIVAL. The event is a Poker event but features loads of variants and special events in order to make this gathering of international Poker players not only an occasion to play cards.
There's something romantic about not having a home but the romance comes with a price, like everything in life. A quote taken from THE Poker movie states that 'in the game of life, women are the rake'. In my life, travel fees are the rake. And they tend to add up pretty badly sometimes - especially in these inflation and €/$ parity times. But I get no cuddles in return :-)
After some months of Vegas, Baby! from May to August, I spent most of the August weeks in Portugal and I'm all set for September but October 2022 seems to develop as a major logistics knot which made me deconstruct my own process of deciding where I'm heading to ... geographically speaking ... philosophically and mentally, it's another story :-p |
