... you're not drunk enough :-)
The aliens have landed in Bratislava. They disguised their saucer from outer space as a bridge and use it as a restaurant for deception purposes.
The Belgians of Poker Belgique will also land in Slovakia soon … Check out the POKER TRIPS of this site for details.
The Bridge of the Slovak Uprising, known as ‘Most Slovenskeho Narodneho Povstania’ or ‘Most SNP’ (‘most’ means ‘bridge’ in Slovak) was constructed from 1967 to 1972. Almost every local refered to it simply as the ‘New Bridge’ (Novy most), so much that the Bratislava City Council changed its name to it in 1993. The political geniuses at work at this time must have thought the world would cease to exist shortly but the end never came and, by 2012, there had been a few other 'new bridges' that had been constructed so the name changed again and went back to ‘Most SNP’ on the 68th anniversary of the Slovak National Uprising that year. This construction is the main access to the center of Bratislava over the gorgeous Danube and it’s not just a bridge: it’s the longest bridge of this planet with only one pylon and a single cable-stayed plane. As a consequence, the +430m long bridge is completely asymmetrical. It weighs a bit more than 530 tons in total and is made of steel cables suspending a steel structure hosting a 4-lane road together with a passage for bikes and pedestrians on the lower level.
Did you know there is a World Federation of Great Towers ? I didn’t until I wrote this post. ‘Most SNP’ is one of them.
On top of the tower, the flying saucer-shaped structure hosts the UFO restaurant serving Slovak and Mediterranean cuisine. The restaurant and observation deck can be accessed by elevator through the east pillar for a few Euros that will be deducted from your restaurant bill if you decide to enjoy a meal up there with panoramic views at 84m above the Danube. There is also a set of 430 stairs in the west pillar but it seems they are only using it for emergencies these days.
I'll be around in Bratislava for a few weeks during this coming March ... with a camera in one hand to shoot you and a stack of bank notes in the other hand to raise you :-)
