I've taken a bit of a backseat regarding on-field trips to Ukraine and its border regions to switch to a position that is more remote friendly over the coming weeks. The consequence is that the stuff I am taking care of is a lot less spectacular in terms of imagery and I've been posting less these weeks but there is still a lot going on in the #pokersolidarity back office. Since the beginning of our actions with David Pichler from the very beginning of the Russian invasion, one of the idea was to create a network of individuals and small structure dedicated to direct action but action costs money and time to organise. This is still our credo and we're trying to avoid wasted administration time and money. With the lowest operational costs possible, we finance most of our initiatives with private money or means and are therefore VERY thankful for every form of support. Beside the #allin4ukraine posts, the solidarity section of my blog hosts more stories like David's. He's seriously ill and is putting together a trip to the WSOP as one of his last trips ever. You can help HERE by donating if you can or just by sharing the post. A few weeks ago (time flies!), a bit before leaving Bratislava prior to my trips to Portugal, Luxembourg and Las Vegas from next Tuesday, I randomly met Bernd Eschrich at Banco Casino, a cheerful and kind Austiran from the Vienna area. He came to me at the casino with an envelop in his hands telling me he had been following my solidarity posts and that they organised a spontaneous pot at their Poker club in Vienna. Danke schön PSV Checkraiser !! Below, a few recent shots from their club page on Facebook where they mostly organise satellite events with tickets to ship for some Banco Casino events. I'll try to drop by and throw in a series of THE-ROUNDERdotnet photos in Vienna during my next Bratislava visit over the late summer or autumn months. I am also in the process of trying to get the Poker community on board a more systematically organised series of support actions. Keeping the balancing act in mind of staying as far away from operational complexities and simply getting things done, we are thinking about how to incorporate the many members of the international Poker dealer and player community that are from Ukraine or have ties with this huge country, the greatest territory of our continent geographically speaking. An NGO, a fund... Some ideas are promising right now. I met fellow international Poker industry shadow workers during my last trip to Portugal and we will be working on ideas to try to get #allin4ukraine to pick up some social media speed. Hopefully, I can use my two-month stay in the eye of the Vegas Poker storm to keep building this network. Christophe Mendes made his way back to Ukraine for a third trip already. He has arrived in Lviv a few hours ago and is off again to some animal rescue and care taking with a trunk full of stuff and thingies. Thanks to the kind Luxembourg animal lovers for the support! You can visit and cheer Christophe up by visiting his Instagram profile containing loads of awesome photography he shoots beside his task and duties on the spot. If you enjoy what you see and read, go get more! I curate all recent relevant #allineverywhere content of the BLOG and occasionally from other sources via my Scoop.it account.
