It's pretty difficult to find out what Martin Franke, the hyperactive Estonian entrepreneur, is brewing in his head but once it's brewed, the word goes out and spreads like a wildfire thanks to an efficient marketing machinery. I've been following Martin on social media for years and we came close to working together at some point in the past but the main thing I have learned about him so far, is that he might be the only person in Europe that travels more than I do but fact is, his 'actually getting on the booked flight' performances are worse than mine and it seems he misses more planes than I do :-p ^^ Something else that has to be credited to him, is the creation of 'The Festival', a unique gaming caravan aiming to travel around and hosting international game competitions. After a great 2021 edition in Bratislava, the gaming event is heading to Estonia's capital, Tallinn, where the next leg will take place between the 27th of June and the 3rd of July 2022. Bratislava was a blast ... no big surprise :-) and The Festival featured Poker in various formats: NLH, PLO, MTTs, SNGs, cash games but its specificity is to offer also fierce Sviten action along with competitions of OFC but also some Pool, Black Jack or Roulette tournaments. At 9m above the Baltic Sea level, Tallinn is the country’s cultural and tourism hub with busy entry points by air and sea. Its walled, cobblestoned medieval old town hosts modern bars and boutiques clashing with the styles of 15th-century military towers or the amazing Gothic town hall on the main square reaching a maximum height of 64m and dating back to the 13th century. I've visited Tallinn a few times in a former life as a touring musician and producer but I've never played Poker there. I did experience some games at an Olympic Casino once though but that was in Riga, neighbouring Latvia's capital city and I honestly have no clue about the Tallinn venue but the first impression the Olympic branded casino left me in Riga was good. Everything there is to know about the upcoming The Festival Tallinn event is online on THEIR WEBSITE. Beside the 550€ NLH Main Event, The Festival Tallinn will offer a variety of other poker tournaments including Sviten Special, PLO, 8-game, Progressive Bounty or OFC along with cash games running around the clock. Also, players will again be able to battle it out in Black Jack or Roulette tournaments and there will also be a sports betting competition. The Festival Bratislava will additionally be back later this year with a stop at Banco Casino from 10th to 16th October and all available info are regrouped under THIS LINK. Yesterday, May 18th, The Festival introduced Unibet as their latest online partner on their news blog. With CoolBet, Guts, NordicBet, OlyBet and Paf, the offer for online qualifiers was already extensive but mainly for Nordic, Baltic and Eastern online players. With Unibet, The Festival can now reach a far wider player pool of international players willing to go down the path of online qualification. All The Festival partners are listed HERE if you care. PokerFirma was recently announced as one of the media partners of The Festival Series and we are currently thinking about how THE-ROUNDERdotnet could collaborate. For sure, the photography and content creation added value would be a good thing but I will be unable to attend the Tallin stop this summer since I will be in the middle of some Vegas, Baby! fever with Jessi Teusl for PokerFirma. For the Bratislava leg in October, on the other hand, I am planning to be there. Let's see what life will plan to challenge me until then :-p What is sure, is that you will probably hear again about The Festival on these webpages soon!
